The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level law entrance examination conducted every year for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes offered by National Law Universities (NLUs) across India. CLAT Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates). Students appearing for their qualifying examination are also eligible to apply, provided they submit proof of passing during admission.
  • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for appearing in the CLAT examination.
  • Nationality: Indian citizens, NRIs, and NRI-sponsored candidates are eligible to apply.
  • Other Requirements: Candidates with a history of criminal convictions, academic misconduct, or disciplinary action may not be eligible for admission through CLAT.

The qualifying examination refers to the examination required for admission into an undergraduate programme. This includes the 10+2 examination or an equivalent qualification such as the International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge A-Level, or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the relevant educational authority.
