ACCA Course Explained

Introduction

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is a globally recognised accounting qualification based in the UK. It provides a strong foundation in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), equipping students with expertise in global accounting practices.

ACCA is valued in over 180 countries, including the UK, Canada, Singapore, and the UAE. The course typically takes three years for students starting after 12th grade and around 2 to 2.5 years for commerce graduates.

As the world’s largest professional accounting qualification, ACCA is highly respected and widely pursued by students looking to build successful careers in accounting and finance, especially on an international scale.

In India, ACCA is considered comparable to CA, and most organisations, including PWC, KPMG, Deloitte, EY, Grant Thornton, and BDO, recruit ACCA professionals at the same wage.

ACCA Syllabus

Chartered Accountancy topics such as Accounting, Financial Reporting, Auditing, Taxation, Business Finance, and Financial Management are covered in ACCA courses. ACCA Syllabus comprises a total of 13 exams that a candidate must appear for. The 13 tests are divided into three levels: knowledge, skill, and professional.

The Knowledge Level tests are available on-demand throughout the year. Skill and Professional Level tests are held every March, June, September, and December. Before 2021, Professional level exams were paper-based; however, all three levels of the ACCA syllabus are now computer-based.

ACCA Course Exemptions

ACCA provides certain exemptions to Commerce Graduates, Post Graduate (M.Com) Inter CA Students, and CA Qualified Individuals. Candidates who have just completed their class 12 examinations do not meet the conditions above. Still, they are nevertheless eligible to apply for the ACCA Exam through the Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) route.

Qualifications Number of exams to give Exemptions
Completion of Class 12th 13 papers* NIL
Commerce Graduate 9 papers BT, MA, FA, LW
MCom Post Graduate 9 papers BT, MA, FA, LW
CA IPCC (Both Groups) 8 papers BT, MA, FA, TX, AA
CA 4 papers BT-FM (9 subjects)

ACCA Eligibility Criteria

ACCA Course Eligibility:  To register for the ACCA qualification, students must be at least 18 years old and have completed their 10+2 examinations. Eligibility requires a minimum of 65% in Mathematics/Accounts and English, along with at least 50% aggregate in other subjects.

Candidates who have recently completed their class 10 examinations or do not meet the aforementioned prerequisites can still register for the ACCA Course through the Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) route.

ACCA Fee Structure

The ACCA Exam takes place four times a year such as March, June, September, and December sessions. Because the ACCA fee structure demands payment in GBP, the cost of obtaining ACCA in India is susceptible to exchange rate fluctuations. All required fees must be paid before the beginning of each semester. ACCA Exam Fees vary by topic, save for papers excluded from our graduating degree (F1 – F7), and are subject to change at any time.
